Manchester Airport Developments – the property and development arm of the Manchester Airport Group – has welcomed another new tenant to its 4M office building at Manchester Airport. Leading Swedish bank, Handelsbanken, has agreed a new 15 year lease and is set to occupy 7,579 sq ft to accommodate the Bank’s new Northern Head Office
4M is an 82,000 sq ft Grade A office development, completed in 2003 by Manchester Airport Developments, which provides high quality office accommodation over six floors occupying a prominent position above the Airport’s Ground Transport Interchange. Existing tenants include the UK Immigration Service (UKIS), Select Service Partner, Emirates and Excel (formerly Air Atlanta).
John Atkins, Strategy and Development Director of Manchester Airport Developments, comments: “We are very pleased that Handelsbanken chose to relocate to 4M. The proximity of the accommodation to the airport was a key factor in their decision to locate here together with the high quality of the building and excellent facilities available including unrivalled transport links throughout the North and the world.”
Anders Bouvin, Head of Handelsbanken’s Northern Regional Bank said: “From our newly established Head Office at Manchester Airport we are in a better position to be able to support Handelsbanken’s growing network of branches in Northern Britain. Looking ahead we see many opportunities for continued growth and Manchester’s central location in the Region and its superior transport facilities were the main reasons for our choice of location for establishing our new Northern Head Office”.
Will Kennon of joint letting agents, CBRE, adds: “The exceptional level on site amenities coupled with its unrivalled transport connections, which are crucial when satisfying staff requirements, sets 4M apart from many of its competitors. The success of the development is highlighted by the fact that only 7,650 sq ft remains available. Quoting rental levels are from £22 per sq ft.”
Stephanie Mullenger of Colliers CRE, who acted on behalf of Handelsbanken, said: “The location of the accommodation is perfect for access to the Bank’s branch network. Product specialists based in London and Sweden are also able to have easy access to Manchester Airport. Being at the airport cuts the travelling time considerably.”
