Manchester Airport Developments (MADL), working in partnership with hotel group Golden Tulip UK Ltd announced that it has completed an Agreement to Lease to develop a 135-bedroom Tulip Inn hotel at Manchester Airport. The Tulip Inn will offer a competitively priced 3 star product to the airport’s 22 million passengers.
The hotel will be situated at Junction 6 of the M56.
The Tulip Inn will have a 140 cover Bibo Bar & Bistro with parking available on-site for 108 cars. There will also be meeting rooms available as part of Tulip Inn’s Simply Meet service.
MADL will be tendering for a construction partner with development programmed to commence on site later this year. Golden Tulip UK will be taking a lease for 25 years. The hotel is due to be open in summer 2007.
John Atkins, Strategy & Development Director commented, “This hotel, with its striking contemporary design, will add to the 1,500 bedrooms already serving the airport. Golden Tulip is a complimentary international brand for the Airport’s leisure and business customer and MADL looks forward to a long relationship”.
Leach Rhodes Walker “This is a great opportunity for us to work at Manchester Airport and we believe the contemporary design for the Tulip Inn will compliment the Airports International status and their commitment for quality design”.
Peter Roberts, Chief Executive of Golden Tulip UK, commented: “The Tulip Inn Manchester Airport will be our first UK airport hotel and the fifth new Tulip Inn site we have announced this year. With more than 40 million passengers expected to be using the airport within a decade and nearly 150 companies already within a ten minute drive of the site, I am convinced this hotel will prove very popular. I hope this deal will help us acquire sites at other UK airports.“Tulip Inns are stylish and informal, offering comfortable public areas and well-appointed bedrooms at a highly affordable price and our current Tulip Inns regularly exceed 90% occupancy during the week.“
Golden Tulip UK currently operates hotels in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle Gateshead, Portsmouth, Leeds/Castleford and Dublin Airport and is part of Golden Tulip Hotels, Inns & Resorts, an international hotel group with over 500 hotels worldwide.. The new generation three star Tulip Inns have well-appointed air-conditioned bedrooms, super size walk-in power showers, satellite TV with Sky Sports and free Wi Fi access throughout the building.
Manchester Airport Developments is the property and development arm of Manchester Airport Group the second largest airport group in the UK.
