Lambert Smith Hampton Wins Massive Manchester Airport Contract
3rd October 2005

In one of the largest single site instructions in the North West, Lambert Smith Hampton’s Manchester office has been appointed by MADL (Manchester Airport Developments – the property and development arm of Manchester Airport Group) to manage the whole of its non-core property estate, extending to over 1,890,000 sq. ft. of accommodation.  The estate includes multi let office buildings, industrial and catering units, hotels, plus extensive residential and agricultural portfolios.

Headed up by director Simon Mitchell, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) will be responsible for the management of the 1,000 acre estate, which will include rent and service charge collection, rent reviews, building surveying and agency services. A number of LSH staff will also be based at the airport. LSH’s brief is to ensure effective management of the estate, maximise income streams and enhance asset value. LSH will be working closely with MADL and its tenants and customers to provide the best estate management services and identify development opportunities to meet their business growth.

Alan Solomons, regional director at Lambert Smith Hampton, commented:
“Given the size and scope of the Airport’s property portfolio, this is one of the most prestigious instructions to be secured in the North West. This programme provides us with further opportunities to demonstrate our ability to deliver a number of different property services across all disciplines, ranging from management services to building consultancy and agency advice.”

Jim Bethell, MADL Managing Director, said:
“Manchester Airport Developments is committed to provide cost effective property solutions to its tenant customers and to support the future property needs of occupiers.  The appointment of Lambert Smith Hampton as the service partner to work with MADL, both strategically and operationally, reflects the MADL drive for best value services in this key area.”

Lambert Smith Hampton was also appointed as joint letting agent by MADL for its 850,000 sq. ft. non-operational property portfolio at Manchester Airport at the end of last year. That brief includes marketing the flagship 4M building, where strong occupier interest is currently being shown in the whole of the third floor.
